Needs for Uganda trip 2023

During Covid, apart from the Lord enabling us to meet practical needs of provision, He also enabled us to repair, restructure & upgrade many of the buildings in the Schools and Medical Centre, but there is still much to do… So we are going back, at the end of August.

The ‘AIM’ (excuse the pun) of this trip, as on every trip, is to visit several churches and villages in rural areas and on the islands. We want to encourage and bless as needed, both spiritually and practically, with the gospel, healing the sick & teaching the word (which is what they always seem to be hungry for).

We also intend to visit the 2 sets of twins that we have been supporting, to cover their medical and practical needs, including beds for the mattresses we previously provided.

Our school mini-bus is now too old to rely on, so everywhere we go, its necessary to hire a vehicle to get around in; and as we never want to be a burden, we pay for all food and expenses for both us and the Ugandan team with us, throughout the time we are there.

Being on the edge of Lake Victoria, our Medical Centre and Birthing Centre is the first port of call for medical, maternity, dentistry treatment as well as the pharmacy, for locals as well as Islanders. We really need more modern equipment, like scanner, dentist chair, beds and other general equipment. Everything is available over there, it just requires money.

In the staff accommodation, at the Medical Centre, and on one of the wards, the walls are leaking and damaged, in urgent need of repair. We would also like to be able to get this done while we are there, if the finances permit.

Our overall desire, both for this trip and on-going, is to encourage, provide and help improve their quality of life, in whatever way we can – spiritually as well as practically.

This is Derrick, rebuilding the tap that needed repair.

Derrick is one of our orphans who was just 6yrs old when he came to us, found on a rubbish tip on one of the islands on Lake Victoria. We took him through school and then trained him.

To be specific about our financial needs, we are seeking the Lord for £12.600.

The costs of renovation/repairs to medical centre ward and staff buildings, we estimate needing £6000, minimum. The provision of hospital beds for the ward and a scanner for maternity ward will cost £2000. Dental equipment will cost £700.

The trip, including transport, food, accommodation and equipment for ministry at various locations, for us and the African team coming with us, will cost £3000.

We also would like to provide beds for the twins and their mother as well as food and clothing, this will cost £900.

At the moment the Lord has provided around £3,700, and we are confident that He will provide exactly what he has already determined to provide, for this is His work.

We thank God for you all and for your faithful and generous support for this work. Your prayers and gifts are literally saving lives – we couldn’t do it without you.
